Walk Down Another Street

13 Apr

Being in the afternoon of my life, well in my fifth decade, the one common routine I have at the very beginning of my day and every evening I take a brief moment to ask if I am living the life I aspire, growing out of my mistakes, being of service to other and being a channel of hope and inspiration for others. And this poem by #PortiaNelson entitled ‘Walk down another street’ is like that one music I listen every time as an everyday reminder. Here is the poem as read by #WayneDyer. Hope you would find it equally enlightening as I do.

“I walk down the street.
There is a deep hole in the sidewalk.
I fall in.
I am lost… I am helpless.
It isn’t my fault.
It takes forever to find a way out.

I walk down the same street.
There is a deep hole in the sidewalk.
I pretend I don’t see it.
I fall in again.
I can’t believe I am in the same place.
But, it isn’t my fault.
It still takes me a long time to get out.

I walk down the same street.
There is a deep hole in the sidewalk.
I see it is there.
I still fall in. It’s a habit.
My eyes are open.
I know where I am.
It is my fault. I get out immediately.

walk down the same street.
There is a deep hole in the sidewalk.
I walk around it.

I walk down another street.”
